Sirius was born in Greenville, SC on May 18th, 2012. He was the biggest of all his siblings. His birth mother was named Sugar and his birth father was Maximus. I will never forget when we went to pick him up. I was worried about making a decision on who to pick. Little did I know, he had already been picked out for me. When we rang the doorbell, we were greeted right away by his breeder holding him out to me saying “Here he is!” I immediately took him in my arms and never looked back.
Sirius was a huge part of our family and went through so much with me over the years we spent together. He was my “soul dog”, best friend, protector, guardian, and son. When he was little, he loved to play with his big brother, AJ and cat bro, Silas. He loved playing fetch with his balls, especially with his “grandpaw”. He loved going for car rides when he was younger, with his head hanging out the window. He loved cheese and Ritz crackers. And squeaky toys. He would tell me when he had to go outside by sitting at the back door. He was such a smart boy. Sometimes, if he really had to go outside, he’d get impatient and stomp his hind feet as he sat down.
Sirius had such a personality. He was the king of side eyes. His facial expressions were always so funny. He enjoyed going outside and barking at squirrels up in the trees. He was always alert, aware of his surroundings.
Sirius could read me so well. He was very sensitive to how I was feeling. If I was sad, he sensed it. If I were excited, he’d get excited too. Animals pick up on so much in us. We are so lucky to have them.
As Sirius aged, his hind legs got weaker, but he was still that bright eyed cute little bundle of joy to me. He was now the “old dog” of the house and had to teach his new little uncle a thing or two. BJ and Sirius were the best of buddies and he spent his final days with BJ by his side, as always.
On April 5th, 2024 at 5:36 pm, in Mount Pleasant, SC, Sirius peacefully crossed over to the Rainbow Bridge surrounded by his mama, “grandpaw”, and friend. We are so lucky to have had Sirius in our lives.
Thank you, Sirius, for everything. You were the most special boy to us. And you will always be my baby. I know you will always be with me. Thank you for being with me throughout all these years. There will never be another dog like you. Be good. I love you.
